Kick Boxing

We have classes for all levels and abilities and we welcome beginners.

The class will focus on basic foundations for this stand-up combat sport that is based on kicking and punching. It is also a great way to learn self-defence, improve general fitness or develop your ability in a contact sport.

You will use your energy, agility and reflexes in kickboxing to outmanoeuvre and dominate your opponent over time. It then continued to evolve and contributed to the development of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). An excellent form of self-defence and ideal for fitness, strength and conditioning.

Historically, developed from karate and mixed with boxing, Kickboxing is a Japanese hybrid martial art made up of punching and kicking. It evolved and developed by adapting fighting techniques from Karate, Muay Thai and western Boxing. It started in the late 1950s, followed by American Kick Boxing in the 1970’s. By 1974, its popularity in the United States resulted in the first World Championship being held by a Professional Karate Association.
